Clinical Pilates & injury rehabilitation
Clinical Pilates utilizes the Pilates Method to curate programs tailored to an individual’s goals and needs. Clinical Pilates aims to functionally target movement rehabilitation using movement control.
We use physical therapy to recover from surgeries, or injuries after surgery, sporting improvement and for conditions such as:
Lower back pain
Shoulder injuries (frozen, tear, strain)
Scoliosis
Mental health
Pelvic floor prolapse
Shin splints
Chondromalacia Patella
Plantar Fasciitis
Achillies Tendonitis
Arthritis
Upon starting, an initial consultation will be done. We will discuss any pathologies (pre or existing), specific goals your wanting to achieve. A postural/movement assessment and tests will be done specific to your injury and/or goals. It’s here where we will establish/refine the Principals of Pilates using some Matwork, Reformer and some other props on hand. Contact studio@atoem.com.au to book your initial consultation.
Pre/Post-Natal Pilates
Our aim is to help expectant mothers maintain their overall health and wellbeing during pregnancy and create a sense of sisterhood with fellow expectant mothers, in separate Pilates experiences. Some benefits of Pre and Post-Natal Pilates while pregnant include:
Strengthening the pelvic floor
Relaxation and relieving stress
Encourages the baby into a forward (anterior) lying position; optimal position for labor and birth
Can move a posterior baby off your back
Improve self-confidence and a positive body image
Aid and encourage good posture
Helps to maintain overall fitness, health and wellbeing
Promotes good balance, flexibility and coordination
Relieves back pain from pregnancy
Abdominal control and awareness
Reduces the chance of uterine prolapse
We understand that everyone’s time during pregnancy is different and we believe in creating independent classes which reflect this. Pre/Post-Natal Pilates is specifically designed to accommodate the needs of the expectant mother, though we also recommend having advice from your doctor or midwife/gynaecologist prior to booking into a session.
